Belarusians in Russia were left without communication - mobile Internet stopped working on foreign SIM cards. In early October 2025, Russian mobile operators began introducing a so-called cooling-off period for all foreign SIM card owners.

It was supposed to be in effect only for the first 24 hours after crossing the Russian border. The restriction was supposed to help combat drones that hit Russian factories and military bases.

The restrictions apply not only to mobile Internet, but also to SMS messages.
