The AFU General Staff Said The Refinery In The Saratov Region Had Been Hit

The General Staff of the AFU confirmed that the Ukrainian Defense Forces hit the Saratov oil refinery in Russia's Saratov region on the night of Thursday, October 16.

The General Staff said that the Saratov refinery is one of the oldest oil refineries of the aggressor country Russia.

The volume of oil refined there was 4.8 million tons as of 2023. The enterprise is involved in meeting the needs of the Russian army.

"The Ukrainian Defense Forces are consistently implementing a set of measures to hit critical elements of Russia's military-industrial base to deprive it of the ability to continue its aggression," the General Staff added.

A large number of explosions were heard in the Russian city of Saratov at night. Locals reported a drone attack on an oil refinery. Saratov also restricted the operation of the local airport.
