British Defense Minister John Healey has urged Russia's ruler Vladimir Putin to have no doubt that NATO will support Ukraine for as long as necessary. His words were quoted by British television channel Sky News.

He said that if NATO is threatened, the military bloc "will act." He urged Moscow not to doubt it.

"We will support Ukraine for as long as it takes," Healey said.

The British defense minister said London was increasing "both military and economic pressure" on Russia. This includes sanctions against the energy sector and oil companies, he specified. Support for Ukraine will be in line with the escalation on the part of Moscow, the head of the British Defense Ministry said.
