Russian-Syrian talks in the Kremlin between Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Syrian President-in-Transition Ahmed al-Sharaa have ended, RIA Novosti reported.
The meeting lasted more than two and a half hours.
Putin and al-Sharaa held narrow talks at the first stage, and then the meeting continued in an expanded format with the participation of members of the delegations.
Ahead of his visit to the Russian capital, al-Sharaa emphasized that Syria has established calm relations with Russia. In his opinion, Damascus' relations with Moscow do not contradict its interaction with the West and specifically with the United States.
Ash-Sharaa led Syria after the overthrow of the government of dictator Bashar al-Assad in December 2024. The latter, along with his family, was granted asylum in Russia.
In January 2025, a Russian delegation visited Damascus. A month later, Putin called Ahmed al-Sharaa for the first time. In the dialog, the Russian leader emphasized that Moscow would continue to support Syria and provide humanitarian aid.
