She emphasized that the EU is now facing an extraordinary surge in hybrid attacks.
This week, the European Union is presenting a defense roadmap that includes the development of systems to combat Russian drones.
This was announced by European diplomacy chief Kaja Kallas during a press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga.
She stressed that the EU is now facing an "extraordinary surge" of hybrid attacks. Callas said that every time a Russian drone or aircraft violates the airspace of EU member states, "there is a risk of escalation, unintentional or not."
"Russia is playing war, and we are moving beyond a hypothetical conflict. To deter war, we must turn Europe's economic power into military deterrence," she said.
Callas said a roadmap for European defense would determine the development of capabilities in key areas, particularly anti-drone systems.
"It is clear that we need to strengthen our defenses against Russia. Not to provoke war, but on the contrary, to prevent war. This will be a manual on how to do that and it should also be fully coordinated with NATO," the EU high representative emphasized.
