Belarus National Soccer Team Lost To Scotland

The fate of the match was decided by VAR.

On Sunday, October 12, the Belarusian national soccer team played a match of the 2026 World Cup qualification against Scotland.

The game was held in Glasgow at the Hampden Park stadium with 49 thousand spectators. The hosts opened the scoring in the first half - striker Che Adams scored.

In the second half, Belarusians managed to hit the opponent's goal through the efforts of Evgeni Malashevich, but after the VAR review the goal was canceled due to a violation of the rules. Earlier, the video replay helped the referee to cancel a penalty kick against Belarus.

In the 84th minute, Scott McTominay doubled the Scots' lead. In the end of the match, Gleb Kuchko reduced the gap in the score, scoring his first goal for the national team.

The final result - 2:1 in favor of Scotland.

It should be noted that on the eve of the match, Scottish human rights activists and politicians called on UEFA to suspend Belarus from international competitions.
