It is not just a settlement that has been liberated.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to build on their success in the Zaporizhzhya direction. Units of the 24th separate assault battalion "Aidar" reported that together with fighters of the 33rd assault regiment liberated the village of Malye Shcherbaki and hoisted the Ukrainian national flag over it, "Dialog.UA" writes.
An important tactical success
In the course of the operation, Ukrainian assault units not only cleared Malye Shcherbaki, but also moved forward by 3.5 kilometers, extending the line of control on a section of the front about five kilometers wide.
The village of Shcherbaki and partially the village of Stepovoye were also liberated. These villages were considered important strongholds of the Russian defense, which the enemy had been strengthening since spring.
In the spring and summer of 2025, the Russians managed to temporarily advance in this area, but now the situation has changed - the AFU regained the territory and consolidated their new positions.
What does this breakthrough mean?"
Military analysts estimate that the liberation of Maly Shcherbakov has not only symbolic but also strategic significance. Control over this area opens up opportunities for further actions in the direction of Lobkovoye and Kamenskoye, where earlier the enemy tried to hold the supply line.
The AFU Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky noted that it is the assault troops, created as a mobile tool to break through defenses, that today play a key role on the front.
"Assault units operate where it is the hardest. They are not assigned to specific positions and were created to quickly break the enemy's first line," Syrsky emphasized.
