Taliban Attack Pakistan: Fighting In Eight Provinces

  • 12.10.2025, 8:40

There are casualties and prisoners.

"Violent clashes" on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border began late Saturday night, October 11, after Kabul accused Islamabad of carrying out airstrikes. 12 Pakistani border guards are reported dead.

"In response to airstrikes by Pakistani forces," Taliban border forces in the east "engaged in fierce clashes with Pakistani forces' posts in various border areas," the Afghan military said in a statement. Twelve Pakistanis are known to have been killed in Helmand province, Focus wrote.

Taliban Public Order Ministry spokesman Saif Khyber said clashes with Pakistani border guards continue in eight border provinces of Helmand, Kandahar, Khost, Paktia, Paktika, Nangarhar, Zabul and Kunar. There are the first casualties. Six Pakistani border guards have reportedly been taken prisoner by the Taliban.

The clash follows recent Pakistani airstrikes on Kabul and Paktika. The Taliban Defense Ministry has warned that it considers defending Afghan territory as its legitimate right.

A Pakistani military spokesman said the military is doing everything possible to ensure the safety of its citizens.

Sources say the Pakistani air force has struck a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan leader in Kabul.

The attacks were reportedly ordered by Taliban Defense Minister Mohammad Yaqub Mujahid and Taliban forces have launched attacks on Pakistani military installations in the border areas of eastern and southern Afghanistan: bases from which drones enter Afghanistan.

Pakistan's defense minister earlier said Pakistan's relations with Afghanistan were deteriorating due to increased terrorist attacks in the country. Hawaja Asif said on October 9 that the situation could further strain bilateral relations.

Asif said that "Pakistan wants a respectful and dignified relationship with Afghanistan" and called on the Afghan Taliban to cooperate in combating cross-border terrorism.

He emphasized that Afghanistan must ensure that its territory is not used by non-state actors. He also noted that Pakistan has provided Taliban officials with irrefutable evidence of such activities.
