Ukrainian air defense fighters on October 10 shot down the newest Russian cruise missile Kh-69 during the repulsion of an air attack using a cheap small-caliber APKWS missile, Dialog.UA writes.

The AFU Air Force Command has published a video of the repulsion of an air attack. On the night of October 10, the Russian occupation army launched a combined air strike on Ukraine using 465 attack drones, 2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles, 14 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, 12 Iskander-KN cruise missiles and 4 Kh-59/69 guided cruise missiles. Ukrainian air defense shot down/suppressed 405 enemy drones, 1 Kinzhal missile, 4 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, 9 Iskander-KN cruise missiles and 1 Kh-69 guided cruise missile.

OSINT analyst OSINTtechnical believes the Kh-69 missile was shot down using a low-cost U.S. small-caliber APKWS guided missile.

The Russian Kh-69 missile was formerly called the Kh-59MK2. It was officially introduced in 2009. In 2015, it was heavily modernized with stealth elements. In 2024, the Russian occupiers began striking Ukraine with Kh-69 missiles. It has a warhead of 310 kilograms. The maximum flight speed is up to 1000 km/h. Maximum range - 290 km.

American missile APKWS is many times cheaper than the Russian missile Kh-69 (only about 10,000 dollars). The U.S. Army adopted it in 2012. The Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive it in 2024. APKWS missiles immediately proved their effectiveness against air targets of various types.
