Three alleged Hamas members suspected of preparing terrorist attacks against Israeli targets in Germany have been detained in Berlin, according to a statement from the country's Prosecutor General's Office.

"The Federal Prosecutor's Office arrested German citizen Abed Al G., Lebanese-born Wael F.M. and German citizen Ahmad I. on October 1, 2025," the statement said. The suspects were charged with membership in a foreign terrorist organization, as well as preparation of a terrorist attack. Their trial was scheduled for October 2.

The agency called the three detainees "foreign agents" of Hamas. According to the prosecutor's office, they had been purchasing firearms and ammunition in Germany since the summer of 2025. The weapons, according to the agency's version, were intended for use by Hamas to prepare terrorist attacks on Israeli or Jewish organizations in Germany. During the arrests, law enforcement officers found various weapons in the suspects' possession, including an AK-47 assault rifle and several pistols, as well as a large amount of ammunition.

In 2024, Die Welt reported that Hamas was planning to carry out terrorist attacks in Berlin and Rhineland-Palatinate. According to the newspaper, those plans were thwarted after a Hamas member was arrested in Berlin in December 2023. According to the version of the German investigation, on his cell phone they found maps with the location of the Israeli embassy in Berlin and the U.S. military base in Rhineland-Palatinate. Law enforcers decided that he was following them.

The Hill wrote about the arrest of four suspects in the preparation of a terrorist attack in Germany on December 14, 2024, citing German officials. The German government said at the time that the four men "were longtime members of Hamas and had participated in Hamas operations abroad."
