Vladimir Leontiev is responsible for kidnappings.
The Russian occupation authorities complained about the Baba Yaga drone attack that hospitalized and later died in the hospital collaborator Vladimir Leontiev, writes New Voice.
On the morning of October 1, the so-called "governor" of the temporarily occupied part of Ukraine's Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, said Leontiev had been injured in a UAV attack and was in hospital in serious condition.
Saldo later informed that Leontiev died in hospital from his injuries.
In late April 2025, the Center for Investigative Journalism reported that the Novovorontsovsky District Court found the 61-year-old collaborator guilty in absentia of violating the laws and customs of war. For the fact that in March 2022 he ordered the RF Armed Forces to kidnap and torture the mayor of Berislav Alexander Shapovalov, Leontiev was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Leontiev is the former head of the occupation administration of Kakhovka district and Novaya Kakhovka. In 2024, he was tried for the kidnapping of Kakhovka journalist Oleg Baturin, Tavriysk mayor Nikolai Rizak, and Novokakhovsky city council secretary Dmitri Vasiliev. As reported in Detector Media, the captives were severely beaten, handcuffed for long periods of time, deprived of water and food, and psychologically pressured. Nine months after his release, Vasilyev died.
Leontiev's first case was also tried in absentia. He was found guilty of ordering and directly organizing systematic repressions against Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region.
