US Redeploys Planes To Search For Russian Submarines Near Kaliningrad

The Norwegian Armed Forces confirmed the information.

OSINT blogger found out that US surveillance planes were first fixed in Norway and then blocked from flying near Kaliningrad. The Norwegian Armed Forces confirmed that P-8 Poseidon "support allied activities in neighboring regions."

It is likely that 2-3 P-8 Poseidon aircraft were at the Oslo-Gardermue Airport military terminal in Norway on September 23-25. They had hex codes AE67C2 and AE67D3 for camouflage, tail numbers unknown. This was reported in X by an analyst with the nickname OSINTtechnical.

On the night of Sept. 27, he said, P-8 Poseidon patrol planes blocked flights near Kaliningrad, which is separated from the rest of Russia.

"Several P-8 aircraft have been redeployed to Oslo in recent days - just for a short flight time in the Baltic region, which has recently been hit by drones," the OSINT blogger noted.

The situation was commented on by the Norwegian Armed Forces

The press service of the Norwegian Armed Forces confirmed to Dagbladet that the Americans have deployed several P-8 Poseidon aircraft at Oslo-Gardermue airport.

"They are supporting allied activities in neighboring regions," said spokesman Brynjar Stordal.

He acknowledged that several aircraft were involved, but did not specify the number. As of September 27, the "birds" had been in Oslo for more than a week, the task they are performing, the Norwegian Armed Forces spokesman did not disclose.

The publication reported that the P-8 Poseidon is a surveillance aircraft used for patrolling and monitoring maritime areas. They are built by the U.S. company Boeing and can also be used to search for submarines.

"There are some training activities, particularly related to the aircraft carrier that was here recently and which is still in the North Sea," Stordahl noted.

The aircraft carrier in question is probably the world's largest aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford, which was in Oslo recently after joint exercises in the North Sea with Norway, Germany and France.

"The aircraft have a relatively long range, so they can operate quite widely in our areas," the speaker added.

What missions the P-8 Poseidon

Newsweek on Sept. 30 informed that the presence of the partulizing drugs comes amid NATO's increased defensive posture in the Baltic region due to the Russian threat to submarines and pipelines, as well as drone activity in Poland, Denmark and Norway. The publication assessed that the continued deployment of US military forces in support of the alliance is a consequence of US President Donald Trump's dramatic change of stance.

At the same time, Kaliningrad is "an important Russian military outpost in Northern Europe and the Baltic Sea," which has also been dubbed the "NATO lake" after Finland and Sweden joined NATO. The P-8 Poseidon can be refueled in the air, so they are capable of long patrols over large ocean areas. In addition to the United States, Norway and the United Kingdom operate them.
