Political scientist: Lukashenka May Resort To Provocation

A raid on the Rivne NPP may begin from the territory of Belarus.

Ukrainian political scientist Yevhen Mahda expressed the opinion in an interview with LRG that, in the situation of the offensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Russia, Minsk's actions at the border may escalate into a military provocation.

"I cannot say that the Belarusians are belligerently rattling their weapons and are ready to break into Ukraine, I do not have such information. But, for example, a raid by special forces, most likely Russian in Belarusian uniform, and possibly reinforced by Belarusian units, for example, to seize the Rivne or Chornobyl NPP, is a quite realistic scenario, in my opinion. [I draw this conclusion] based on the development of the situation in the Kursk region, where the Ukrainian military is approaching the [Kursk] NPP," the political scientist believes.

“Putin does not want a situation to arise in which there will be a discussion about whether it is worth replacing the Kursk NPP with the Zaporizhzhia NPP, because the Zaporizhzhia NPP is an important part of the defence of the southeast of Ukraine occupied by Russia,” adds Mahda.
