Trial Date Set For Founder Of Novoye Zrenie Clinic

He is charged under nine articles.

The trial of Aleh Kauryhin, founder of Novoye Zrenie clinic, will begin on September 23. The case will be heard by the Minsk City Court. Kauryhin will be tried in absentia; he is currently abroad.

He is charged under nine articles of the Criminal Code: economic (tax evasion, organization of tax agent evasion, organization of tax fraud), political (“incitement of public hatred”, “calls for sanctions”, “discrediting Belarus”, “assistance to extremist activity”) and a number of others.

Four more people are involved in this case (but only under economic articles) with Kauryhin. Human rights activists do not know what measures of restraint they are facing.

Important to note, the Ministry of Health revoked the clinic's license in July 2023.
