A prisoner of the Vitsebsk penal colony #3 “Vitsba”, who was supposed to be released in less than a year, has died, the MAYDAY TEAM human rights activists' Telegram channel reports.

The prisoner's first and last name are not disclosed, nor is the article under which he served his sentence.

It is known that the man was 54 years old, he had served about ten years in this colony, and he had less than a year left before the end of his sentence. The convict was taken to the Vitsebsk hospital in critical condition, but the patient could not be saved.

He was pronounced dead on Sunday, August 25. Doctors informed the family about this.
