'Russia Really And Totally Failed'

Why did the Kremlin start the "dirty nuclear games"?

When Russia claims that Ukraine is allegedly preparing to use a "dirty bomb", it is necessary to understand what it is at all, military expert, ex-Speaker of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vladyslav Seleznyov writes for unian.net.

We are talking about the warhead of an aerial bomb, missile or artillery shell, which contains the remnants of nuclear fuel that remains after processing in nuclear power units. And this mixture is combined with an explosive. When the projectile arrives at the point, it explodes and the nuclear remnants spread...

Given this, the use of such bombs by our state from a military point of view does not make any sense, it makes zero sense.

But where a scenario of use is quite possible is within the framework of terrorist activities. Thus, with statements that "Ukraine is preparing to use a"dirty bomb", Russia is trying to promote the idea that we are a terrorist country, we do not have legitimate power.

The purpose of such Russian hysteria is to shift the emphasis. It is important for them to slightly change the focus and attention of the international community from the Kursk region.

After all, Russia really failed there, totally. And now the Kremlin has come up with a shift in emphasis to the fact that, they say, the Ukrainian forces are supposed to carry out a terrorist act at a critical infrastructure facility, most likely at the Kursk nuclear power plant.

However, it is already obvious that Ukraine is not interested in taking control of this nuclear power plant. The president has repeatedly spoken about this. After all, the key goal of the Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region is to create a buffer zone to ensure the safety of residents of our Sumy region from enemy mortars and artillery shelling.

But it is worth paying attention to the fact that while the Russians are spreading the news that Ukraine is preparing a provocation at the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, they staged a provocation on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. There was a fire in an area where, in general, there is nothing to set fire to. Obviously, this is a fabricated situation – they burned tires or something else.

In fact, with such actions and ideas, the Russian propaganda system methodically promotes the narrative that Ukraine is a state of terrorists, it acts in a terrorist way in order to cause as much harm as possible not only to its fellow citizens, but also to residents of countries that have common borders with Ukraine.

Although it is obvious that this is complete nonsense, the Russians are thus implementing two missions. First, they continue to demonize Ukraine. Secondly, they create information occasions in order to shift the focus of the world community's attention from the problems that arise in the Kremlin in the Kursk region.

But, do they achieve these goals with such statements?

Of course, Russians have a certain category of sympathizers in the West, as well as countries around the world, who agree with any statements of the Russian Federation, no matter how fictional they may be.

We are talking, for example, about the recent statement of the North Korean government that the DPRK strongly condemns the invasion of Ukraine into the territory of the Kursk region. And in general, it is difficult to recall Kim Jong Un's statements in which he would have condemned the aggression of the Russian army against Ukraine: both in February 2014 and in February 2022.

That is, the Russians have henchmen who perceive such information about the "irresponsible activity of Ukraine in relation to nuclear facilities" for the truth. But most Western countries, Ukrainian partners have long understood that such statements are sheer nonsense, which has nothing to do with reality.

There is another question: how should Ukraine react to such statements by Russia? In my opinion, getting involved in any controversy with the Russians is a waste of time, it's not worth it. Mainly because Russians are the best at discrediting themselves.
