The North Korean dictator's health deteriorated.
North Korean officials are looking abroad for drugs that could help dictator Kim Jong-un overcome his health problems, the Associated Press reports, citing South Korean intelligence.
The article reads that Kim, who was about 170 centimeters tall and previously weighed 140 kilograms, lost a lot of weight in 2021, likely due to a change in diet. But recent footage released by state media shows he has gained weight again.
South Korea's National Intelligence Service told members of parliament that Kim, 40, was back to weighing around 140 kilograms and was at high risk for certain diseases.
Lawmaker Lee Sung-kin noted that Kim has had signs of high blood pressure and diabetes since he was 30, so it is likely that he will suffer from heart disease over time if he does not take care of his health.
Lawmaker Park Sung-won said intelligence agencies believe Kim's obesity is linked to alcohol abuse, smoking and stress.
According to intelligence reports, North Korean officials are trying to find medicine for their leader abroad.
