18 Russian Warships At Once Leave Novorossiysk In Hurry

What is the reason?

The Kremlin has suddenly withdrawn almost the entire remainder of the Black Sea Fleet from Novorossiysk to the Black Sea. It is possible that all the ships took a course towards occupied Crimea.

Satellite images from June 5 showed that the Russian Defence Ministry withdrew 11 of its ships to the Black Sea.

Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War decided to analyse the route of the enemy ships and the purpose for which they were taken out of Novorossiysk.

In total, two patrol ships, two submarines, three minesweepers and several landing ships went to sea. Analysts do not dare to say whether all the ships left the port of Novorossiysk, but they agree that all of them did.

Satellite photos from June 6 showed that about 10 ships are in the immediate vicinity of Novorossiysk, 2.5 km from the port entrance. At that, only about 8 ships are moving towards the Black Sea.

Some analysts have no doubt that the ships are heading towards Crimea. In fact, it turns out that 18 ships left the port of Novorossiysk at once.

The British Ministry of Defence suggests that the Russian army faced difficulties in logistics through the Kerch Strait after the AFU launched a series of strikes on the ferry crossings on May 29, so the Russian Ministry of Defence decided to use these ships as logistics: to transfer both landing troops and military equipment.

The sudden withdrawal of naval assets from the port may also indicate that the Russian authorities are concerned about the Ukrainian strikes on the port.
