The liberal party won the elections.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico lost the European Parliament elections to the opposition Progressive Slovakia (PS) party.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine.
According to the election commission, the opposition political force gained 27.81% of the votes and became the winner of the race. Fico's Smer-SD party (Course — Social Democracy) took second place, receiving 24.76%.
Despite this, the result in the European elections is a success for both PS and Smer-SD: each of them received two more seats. In the new European Parliament, PS will have six MEPs, and Smer — five.
Fico's party criticized the EU's support for Ukraine, as well as the policies of EU countries regarding immigration, climate change and LGBT rights. However, Progressive Slovakia is a pro-Western liberal party.
