The head of the Main Personnel Directorate of the Ministry of Defence Yuri Kuznetsov has been detained in Russia, writes TASS. Earlier he headed the Eighth Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (State Secret Protection Service).

The Russian VChK-OGPU project, close to the security forces, citing a source, writes that the lieutenant general was detained yesterday. At about 05:00 counter-intelligence officers in balaclavas and with crowbars "knocked out" the gates and windows of his mansion and acted harshly.

Kuznetsov and his wife, a former employee of the Committee for Military-Technical Cooperation with Foreign States, the Academy of Strategic Missile Forces and other structures of the Ministry of Defence, were in the house at the time of the assault.

Journalists write that Kuznetsov was "literally dragged out of bed" and taken away for questioning. One of his relatives required medical attention, while his wife is still staying with the Investigative Committee.
