Belarusian security services detained a native of Tajikistan with a Russian passport for evading service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. This was reported by the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper citing the Investigative Committee of Russia.

Two natives of Tajikistan obtained Russian citizenship in 2019 and 2022 respectively, and then were called up for military service. The men did not serve in the army and tried to escape. In October 2023, a criminal case was opened against them, and later they were charged in absentia and imprisoned.

Investigators found out that the men were in Belarus. One of them was detained the other day. During the interrogation, he fully admitted his guilt. The second defendant in the criminal case is still being wanted.
