Zelensky Carries Out Major Changes In AFU Leadership

New commanders of the Ground Forces, the Joint Forces, the Airborne Forces and the Territorial Defence have been appointed.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed new commanders of the Land Forces, the United Forces, the Airborne Assault Forces (AAF) and the Territorial Defence Forces (TDF).

The decrees are published on the website of the President of Ukraine.

Thus, Oleksandr Pavliuk was appointed the new commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Previously, this position was held by Oleksandr Syrsky, who became the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine instead of Valery Zaluzhny.

Serhii Naiev was dismissed from the post of Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Yurii Sodol was appointed in his position.

Maksym Mirhorodsky was dismissed from the post of commander of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ihor Skibiuk was appointed in his position.

Ihor Plakhuta was appointed the new commander of the Territorial Defence Forces. Earlier, Anatoly Barhilevich was dismissed from this position, who became the new head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine instead of Serhiy Shaptala.

The rotation in the military leadership of Ukraine began on February 8 with the dismissal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, who was the Commander-in-Chief for more than 2.5 years, including since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.

President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed the former Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky.
