Their cars were allegedly “recorded by surveillance cameras”.

Two people have been detained on suspicion of killing the head of the radiation, chemical and biological defense troops (RCBZ) of the Russian armed forces, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, and his assistant, sources told Kommersant, Izvestia and RBC.

According to them, law enforcement agencies picked up the trail “from the crime scene,” paying attention to two suspicious cars that were recorded by surveillance cameras. The men were detained the day before, on December 17, and have already confessed, writes 112.

According to Kommersant's source, the organizers of the terrorist attack contacted the men via instant messengers and gave them the contact information of a contact from the Security Service of Ukraine.

Kirillov and his assistant Ilya Polikarpov were killed early in the morning of December 17 as a result of an explosion near a house on Ryazansky Prospekt in Moscow. The explosion was equivalent to about 1 kg of TNT. The Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on “terrorist attack, murder, illegal arms and ammunition trafficking.”

A BBC source in the Security Service of Ukraine reported that it was a special service operation. According to him, a homemade explosive device was planted in a scooter parked next to Kirillov's house on Ryazansky Prospekt. When the general and his assistant were leaving the entrance early in the morning, the scooter was remotely detonated.

“Kirillov was a war criminal and an absolutely legal target, since he gave orders to use prohibited chemical weapons against Ukrainian soldiers. Such an inglorious end awaits everyone who kills Ukrainians,” the source noted.
