World Media Reports Unveil Details On Potential Elimination Of Gerasimov

The Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation has not appeared in public for a long time.

The OSINT investigator WarVehicleTracker was the first to publish a message about the probable death of Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov.

Head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Kirylo Budanov said that he could not yet confirm or deny the information about the death of Chief of the Russian Armed Forces GS Valery Gerasimov.

He also decided not to delve into detail about the causes of the explosions in the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea, which occurred on January 4 and 5.

“Let’s just say, I have no confirmation of this information,” Budanov answered a journalist’s question regarding Gerasimov’s probable death.

The news about the probable death of the Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov had been circulating in the Internet and then appeared on the pages of world publications.

The Newsweek journalists highlighted the interest to the news of Gerasimov's possible death after X (formerly Twitter) user WarVehicleTracker, which tracks vehicles and losses in Ukraine, shared an image purporting to show a message published by a Russian Telegram channel called “Ordinary Tsarism”, which has more than 34,000 subscribers.

WarVehicleTracker's post has been viewed more than 60,000 times at the time of writing, and prompted hundreds of social media users to question whether Gerasimov had been killed in Crimea.

The Daily Mail drew attention to the fact that Gerasimov has not appeared in public for a long time. He has not been at the military awards ceremony since December 29. Then the occupiers who participated in the capture of Maryinka in the Donetsk region were awarded.

Journalists noted that there is no confirmation of information about the liquidation of the Russian general yet, but at the moment we can only state what is already known — the command post in the Crimea was indeed hit.

The Telegram channel “Ordinary Tsarism” itself accused Ukraine of spreading disinformation. Propagandists said they had no such message.

Russia has not yet commented on reports that Valery Gerasimov was killed during a strike on a military command post in the Crimea on Thursday.

Explosions in Yevpatoria on January 4, 2024

In the Crimea, in the vicinity of the city of Yevpatoria, at about 16:00 on January 4, explosions occurred. Shortly before the explosions, an air raid alert was announced on the occupied peninsula, and local public pages on social media reported information about the activity of Ukrainian Armed Forces aviation in the Mykolaiv region.

Experts revealed the data on where the hit could have occurred. The location indicates that the explosions occurred on the outskirts of the city.
