The woman is under arrest.
Lukashenka's law-enforcers detained the owner of a clothing repair studio for participating in protests and publishing memes on social media. A “repentant” video of the woman appeared on one of the pro-government Telegram channels.
In the video, the detainee says that in 2020 she went to several protests and also “used memes on Instagram with black humor that refer to our government and the neighboring state.”
The video showed screenshots of several published memes — they contain jokes about Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russians fighting in Ukraine.
As follows from the woman’s words, she is now under administrative arrest. However, the law-enforcers claim that she “will receive 5 years in jail for participating in the riots.” Also, in relation to her publications, in which they saw “signs of inciting national hatred,” an additional check is allegedly being carried out, and the detained businesswoman may face another criminal case under Article 130 of the Criminal Code.
