Explosions occurred at the main military airfield of the Russian Federation in the Crimea.

On January 2, explosions were heard in the temporarily Russian-occupied Crimea. As local Telegram channels noted, the Belbek airfield was hit.

At the same time, Yuryi Ihnat, a representative of the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, noted that this airfield is the enemy’s main air base, which is used to attack Ukraine. He spoke about this on «Channel 24.

According to him, Shaheds and Iskander ballistic missiles take off from the airfields of the occupied Crimea, in particular Belbek and Dzhankoy, which the enemy uses to shell southern Ukraine.

“The defeat of Russian airfields and the aviation equipment stationed there is very good, because it somewhat reduces Russia’s capabilities in the airspace of both (Black and Azov) seas. Reduces, but does not stop,” emphasized the speaker of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

He added that in the southern direction, between the Snake Island and the Belbek airfield, a significant number of aircraft of the invaders was recorded. This area is constantly patrolled by Su-30, Su-27 or MiG-29 aircraft. The Il-22 repeater or the A-50 air radar are also active in the Sea of Azov.

Speaker of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Yuryi Ihnat noted that it is necessary to strike as much as possible at Russian airfields and bases, destroying enemy equipment.

“We must destroy both in the air and on the ground. If there is the slightest opportunity to hit Russian bases, this must be done. These operations are successfully carried out by the Armed Forces and the Air Force together with the Security Service, the Defense Intelligence. They inflict painful losses on the enemy, destroying aircraft, aviation equipment, infrastructure, as well as enemy air defense systems,” noted Yuryi Ihnat.
