It comes shortly after she announced the creation of her own party.
Ekaterina Duntsova, who was not allowed to run in Russia's elections, has been detained. After the meeting at which it was decided to set up the Rassvet party, the police stopped the car in which Duntsova was travelling. This was reported by the telegram channel Ateo Breaking, which cooperates with Duntsova.
According to the channel, the unregistered presidential candidate was taken to a narcological clinic to test for drugs in the blood. Duntsova did not refuse the test.
"She was driving from a meeting and was detained under the pretext of a formal drug test," a source told Beware of Media.
Ekaterina Duntsova, a journalist from Rzhev, announced her candidacy for the presidency on 16 November. Russia's Central Election Commission did not allow Duntsova to run for president in 2024, refusing to register an initiative group to collect signatures.
