He headed OJSC Gomeloblstroyproekt and the local branch of the pro-government party.
The Flagstaff publication became aware of the detention of the CEO of Gomeloblstroyproekt OJSC and concurrently the chairman of the Homel branch of the Republican Party of Labor and Justice, Viktar Burakou. The arrest occurred at the end of November, after which he was dismissed from all positions.
A Flagstaff source reported Burakou’s detention on the condition of anonymity.
The CEO of the Gomeloblstroyproekt Institute was taken away by law-enforcers from his workplace over his likes on social media. State media did not report anything about the arrest of the functionary.
At the reception of Gomeloblstroyproekt, the secretary confirmed the problems with the management: “Viktar Burakou no longer works here. We have a different CEO, Uladzimir Yatsko, [for] a month now. Nothing happened, just another CEO.”
On the website of the regional organization of the Republican Party of Labor and Justice, Burakou was also removed from among the leaders. No replacement has yet been found for him.
Viktar Burakou previously worked at Homselmash and the Vetka cotton spinning factory (now liquidated).
In 2005, he became deputy chairman of the Vetka district executive committee, and 2 years later he headed it. In 2010, they wrote about him as the general director of the Gomeloblstroykompleks. In 2014 he headed JSC Gomeloblstroyproekt.
In May 2023, Burakou was elected chairman of the regional organization of the pro-government Republican Party of Labor and Justice.
