The results of the survey have been published.

Only 3% of Russians openly express a sense of guilt towards Ukrainians. A small percentage of people would apologize to the citizens of Ukraine if there was such an opportunity.

This is stated in the sociological study "Russians About Themselves and Ukrainians", which was shared with the website Charter97.org by the director of the Ukrainian Institute for Conflictology and Analysis of Russia (ICAR) Oleksandr Shulha. When asked what they would write briefly on Telegram to Ukrainians if they had the opportunity, only a few percent of Russians answered that it would be the word "sorry".

What would Russians write to Ukrainians?

According to the survey results, the most common Telegram messages from Russians to Ukrainians would be:

- we want peace, let's live in peace — 13%;

- hold on, everything will be fine — 10%.

About a quarter of respondents do not know what they would like to write to Ukrainians, or do not see the point.

What traits do Russians attribute to themselves?

The two main traits that Russians most often ascribe to themselves are good nature (14%) and patience (14%).

Only 6% of respondents attributed the main features of Russians bad characteristics: for example, stupid, evil, obedient, weak and others. About 12% of respondents could not describe the Russian people with the trait that is most inherent to them.

About the survey

The Institute for Conflictology and Analysis of Russia (ICAR) together with the sociological company Info Sapiens made an all-Russian sociological study called “Russians About Themselves and Ukrainians”. From September 14 to September 28, 2023, an operational all-Russian scale survey was held.

The survey methodology is CATI, namely a telephone survey using an interactive structured questionnaire using special software for sociological surveys.

Russians over the age of 18 were asked free-response questions. A total of 1.600 respondents were interviewed. The statistical error with a probability of 0.95 does not exceed 2.5%.
