Reason For Arrest Of Zhlobin Official Becomes Known

Repentance had no effect on the outcome of the trial.

Yevgeny Akhremenko, the former head of the sports and tourism department of the Zhlobin District Executive Committee, was sentenced to 15 days' imprisonment on 28 December. Details of his detention have been revealed.

Yevgeny Akhremenko was arrested because of the "likes" he placed on one of the Instagram pages known to be extremist, writes Homelskaya Viasna.

Akhremenko marked the publication Free Zhlobin, which is on the national list of extremist materials, with a "like" and "thereby increased the reach of the audience to view it, as spreading information products of the said community.

In the post, the authors congratulated the KGB officers on their "day of professional incompetence".

During the trial, Akhremenko himself partially admitted his guilt, explaining that it was an accident and that he had no intention of distributing it, as he was viewing the community's publications in order to detect and suppress illegal actions by subordinate employees and athletes.

But the repentance of the official did not affect the outcome of the court, nor the fact that Akhremenko has three minor children: 15 days and confiscation of the "object of the crime" - a mobile phone.

It is worth noting that in the Instagram account of Akhremenko himself the content is exclusively "ideologically correct": certificates from other officials, official events, sports.

So it is possible that Akhremenko really did not lie in court, but as you can see - no one is interested in that and similar behaviour will not save anyone.
