Russian Airline Buys Plane In Minsk, But Something Goes Wrong

  • 8.09.2023, 16:37

Less than a month passed before problems began.

A Russian airline bought a plane in Minsk, but it broke down three weeks later. However, Belarusians have nothing to do with it, writes the Telegram channel “OtVinta | Aviation of Belarus”.

On September 2, the Yak-40 (RA-87669), owned by Kamchatka Aviation Enterprise JSC, was unable to take off from Magadan Airport. The second (middle) engine of the plane did not start, and metal fragments, presumably from the engine blades, were found near the aircraft.

This Yak-40 only arrived in Kamchatka on August 14 and was put into operation there after maintenance at the Minsk Civil Aviation Plant # 407, which lasted about a year. Since November 2019, the plane was stored on the territory of the Minsk National Airport without attribution to any airline.

But the aircraft operator does not make any claims against the Belarusian plant. The company stated that in Minsk all components, assemblies and the airframe were modernized on the Yak-40; no work was carried out on the engines there. The company has already sent its technical personnel to Magadan to replace the broken engine.

As a subscriber who had a direct connection with aviation in the past suggests, the versions of the partial destruction of the aircraft engine are as follows:

1. the engine was removed from conservation with violations of technology provided for by the governing documents (regardless of whether it was on the plane or in storage)

2. the engine was repaired, but was not installed on the aircraft and did not pass the required tests (unlikely).
