The verdict was delivered by New York judge Arthur Engoron.
The court found Donald Trump guilty of fraud. This decision was made by New York judge Arthur Engoron, writes Reuters.
The court ruled that the former US President is responsible for fraud and exaggerating the fortune of billions of dollars a year in financial reports.
Trump was sued by New York State Attorney Letitia James in September 2022. She accused the former US president and his company of lying about the value of his assets and his own capital for 10 years to get more favourable terms on bank loans and insurance.
She said Trump exaggerated his wealth by $2.23bn annually, and according to other reports, by $3.6bn.
The attorney general is seeking a $250 million fine for Trump, as well as a ban on him and his sons from conducting family businesses in New York.
