Official Reveals How Plants Die Under Lukashenka's Rule

Gorlov voiced some toxic facts.

At the meeting on 25 September, the former chairman of the Molodechno district executive committee, Yury Gorlov, reported to Lukashenka. He was promoted to the post of inspector, Lukashenka's representative in the Homiel region (the first time this post has been held by a Russian).

Gorlov mentioned some unpleasant facts, to which Nasha Niva paid attention.

The official started with the positive - that according to the results of the first seven months of this year the district meets all the main indicators of socio-economic development, that 37 large enterprises operate in the city and the district. He did not forget to add that the socio-political situation in the region is "stable". This is a euphemism used by Lukashists to mean that there have been no protests.

Without waiting for the speech to end, Lukashenka asked Gorlov which enterprise in Molodechno was the most problematic at the moment.

According to Gorlov, it was the Molodechno Metalworking Plant (MZMK). Its main problem is low capacity utilisation.

"Considering that the plant can produce 700 tonnes of metal structures per month, the capacities of the Molodechno district and the Minsk region are not sufficient today. We have made a proposal to integrate this enterprise into the republic's industry," the official began to explain. He meant that orders would come from all over the country, not just from one region.

Lukashenka wondered how it could be that there was demand "in the republic", but the enterprise was not busy.

The former chairman of the Molodechno district executive committee defended himself by saying that there were dozens of such enterprises (with low workloads) in the country.

At the same time, Gorlov does not seem to be losing his positive attitude.

The official said that the company is already working on a project with Russians. According to him, the plant is planning to send a batch of experimental containers for transporting liquefied natural gas this year.

According to the official, if the company manages to get orders from Russia for such products, it will be able to operate at 60-70 per cent of its capacity.

It is not known exactly how busy MZMK is now. But it looks like much less if the official voices 60-70% utilisation as a positive forecast.
