BelNPP First Power Unit To Undergo Repairs Again

The Belarusian nuclear power plant has been idle for longer than it has worked.

The first power unit of the Belarusian NPP will be sent for scheduled maintenance in the first half of October. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

As the message says, “a broad diagnostic of technological systems, the reactor compartment, the turbine room, and the turbine shop will be carried out,” as well as “inspection of metal and welded joints.”

In addition, it is planned to carry out routine maintenance, including reloading nuclear fuel into the reactor core and replacing about 25% of the fuel assemblies.

Belarusian and Russian organizations will be involved in the planned repairs.

It is important to note that the first unit of the BelNPP has been idle more time than it has worked — for example, from the moment it was launched on November 7, 2020 to November 7, 2022, the station was idle almost 55% of the time.
