And in case of aggravation of the situation, it will close the entire border.

With the Wagner mercenaries in Belarus, closing some border points is a matter of time, said Laurynas Kasciunas, chairman of the National Security and Defence Committee of the Lithuanian Seimas on August 4.

"It will definitely be done. I will not go into details about which ones (border crossing points. - Ed.). If we see that the situation is getting worse, a decision will be made to close the border completely," Kasciunas emphasised, lrt.lt reports. "We are not saying this publicly, but all preparations have been made."

Deputy Interior Minister Arnoldas Abramavicius said that the decision would be announced soon: "Today Poland has actually one checkpoint with Belarus, while we have six. One of the preventive measures will be to reduce them to four," said Abramavicius.

According to him, it's important to coordinate actions with Poland and Latvia. "The decision of one country to close the border will worsen the situation in others. The decision can only be common, regional," the deputy minister explained, adding that such steps will depend on provocations on the border.
