Media: Combat Helicopters, Which Violated Poland's Border, Accompanied Lukashenka

Helicopters of the Belarusian Armed Forces, which violated the airspace of Poland on August 1, were guarding dictator Aliaksandr Lukashenka, who was in the residence Viskuli, located 7.5 km from the border.

The report says that since the evening of 30 July, Lukashenka has been in the residence Viskuli, 7.5 km from the border with Poland. Already on 29 July, two air force helicopters were transferred from Machulishchy to the border area with Poland for his "protection", while the third helicopter flew to the border area the next day.

"On 29 July at about 17:00, two helicopters of the Air Force of the Republic of Belarus flew from Machulishchy to the area of the V/C near Kamenyuki: Mi-8 and Mi-24 (with flight number 14). They arrived in the Kamenets district at about 18:30. The helicopters were there to protect the airspace of Belarus during Lukashenka's visit to the Viskuli residence, according to the report.

On 1 August, these helicopters flew "to patrol the border" in the Kamenets district of the Brest region.

The Polish Ministry of Defence confirmed on 1 August that two Belarusian helicopters had violated the country's airspace near Bialowieza.

The incident has been reported to NATO. The Polish foreign ministry also said it would summon the Belarusian chargé d'affaires for an explanation.

Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak called for an increase in the number of soldiers on the border and the deployment of additional forces and resources, including attack helicopters.

The Pentagon reacted to the violation of the Polish border by Belarus. The US authorities are ready to work with allies to protect the territory of North Atlantic Alliance countries, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said at a regular briefing for journalists.
