On July 26, the court of Baranavichy district and Baranavichy considered the criminal case of 71-year-old local resident Hennadz Palianin. The pensioner was charged with "insulting" Lukashenka under Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code, reported human rights activists. The case was considered by Judge Artsiom Padalianets.
According to the prosecution, Hennadz Palianin, "using a personal computer as a means of committing the offenc, posted in the chat room "Belarus in Shock! Chat" a text message that "humiliates the honour and dignity of" Lukashenka in an indecent form, thus intentionally publicly humiliated the honour and dignity of his person".
Before the trial Palianin was on a non-disappearance recognisance.
The court, taking into account the age of the accused, sentenced him to two years of restricted freedom without sending him to an open-type correctional institution.
And just yesterday Andrei Halupka was tried in Baranavichy under the same article for "insulting" Lukashenka. The verdict is still unknown.
