The administration of the colony could have organized a provocation.

Political prisoner, activist of the European Belarus civil campaign Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk could have been beaten in the colony before being taken to the psychiatric center “Navinki”.

Andrei Sharenda, the husband of the political prisoner, told Charter97.org the following:

— Today, an anonymous source told the Viasna human rights center that Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk was severely beaten in the colony # 24 in Zarechcha. During the transfer (it was on June 22) Palina met this girl at one of the checkpoints.

The prisoner saw that Palina's face was badly beaten, she had bruises, a nose bridge injury. Palina wanted her to pass the message that a provocation had been staged against her in the colony.

Either my wife was put into the cell with those women who beat her, or they were put into her cell. What physical damage she received is unknown. Before that, there was information that Palina was placed in the medical unit of the colony at that time for at least ten days.

Andrei Sharenda says that it was between June 8 and 20 that there was no news from Palina:

— Most likely, Palina indeed was beaten in the colony, hospitalized, and the physical injuries were significant. After all, they don’t send anyone to the medical unit for nothing. It is clear that the administration of the colony is behind this provocation.

It was during this period that Palina disappeared for three weeks. Now it became clear why they were taking her to different places for so long, and hid her from people.

Palina's life is in danger. The authorities are doing everything to put pressure on her. I call on all international organizations to follow the fate of Palina, her situation is simply catastrophic.

I would like to underline that for two weeks there has been no news from Palina.
