On July 12, the authorities of the Latvian capital lowered the Belarusian national flag as a sign of mourning for the political prisoner artist Ales Pushkin, who died during the night on July 11. This was reported by the Belarusians of Latvia telegram channel. The flagpole with the WRW-flag is located near the National Library in Riga, the flags of Ukraine and Latvia are flying next to it.
Political prisoner and artist Ales Pushkin died in the intensive care unit of the emergency hospital in Hrodna during the night of the 11th of July. Later it turned out that he was taken to the hospital unconscious by ambulance on July 10. They tried to make Ales an operation, during which the artist's heart stopped. In recent letters from prison Pushkin reported that he had lost 20 kg, having become very thin, complained of pain in the kidneys and asked to pass a belt for the lower back.
Later it was reported that Pushkin had suffered a perforated ulcer.
