Without the Membership Action Plan.
Ukraine will be accepted into the North Atlantic Alliance under an accelerated procedure. In particular, Kyiv will join NATO without the Membership Action Plan (MAP).
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said, according to RBC-Ukraine with reference to a briefing.
“The first is a multi-year support programme for Ukraine, which will help move from the Soviet system to the NATO system. Next is the NATO-Ukraine Council, where we will meet as equals,” he said.
According to Stoltenberg, a meeting of NATO member states with the participation of Volodymyr Zelensky will take place tomorrow.
“We’d like to declare once again that Ukraine will become a NATO member state. Ukraine is to take one step, not two, for this. When we come to an agreement among NATO member states, we will issue an invitation to Ukraine. This is a clear path to Ukraine's NATO membership,” he stressed.
The NATO Secretary General noted that the allies agreed today on a positive joint message to support Ukraine and its path to NATO membership.
“This involves real assistance to ensure full cooperation between NATO and Ukraine,” he said.
