These events show the vulnerability of the power system in Russia.
The mutiny by Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner Military Company, has exposed the cracks in Putin's system. And although the Russian president is trying to patch up the gaps very quickly, it all points to the vulnerability of the vertical of power.
Valery Klochok, a political expert and head of the Bashnya Centre for Public Analytics, said this in a TV marathon, TSN reports.
"The detention of Surovikin (Russian General Sergei Surovikin, still out of touch after the events in Moscow - ed.), the "denial" of this detention by his daughter, and not by the press service of the Ministry of Defense, for example... Since the relatives started commenting on where the officials are...? It looks quite strange," the expert noted.
Valery Klochok also commented on Putin's public appearance in Dagestan. According to him, this visit, as well as a number of other events in Russia, indicate that Putin is not in control of his "movements" right now.
"These events show the vulnerability of the system. Those who have engineered this vulnerability... they will do so in the future. They will wait it out now, look at Putin's reaction and the process will move," Valery Klochok added.
As Charter97.org wrote, the Financial Times reported yesterday, citing anonymous sources, that Surovikin has been detained after the failed Prigozhin mutiny, and the Kremlin regime has begun a mop-up of the top security officials.
The Moscow Times, citing two sources close to the aggressor country's defence ministry, claimed that Surovikin had been arrested.
The New York Times, citing several sources, wrote that according to the US intelligence services, Surovikin knew in advance about Prigozhin's preparations for the mutiny. The Dossier Center wrote that "back in 2017" Surovikin was an honorary member of the Wagner PMC.
