The Russian company wondered why oil transit tariffs should be increased by 84%.
The Russian company Transneft has refused to increase the tariffs for oil transit through Belarus. According to TASS, the Russians have not received any justification from Belarus as to why oil transit tariffs should increase by 84%.
A letter from the Russian company to Gomeltransneft Druzhba says that the amount of the tariffs should correspond to the established methodology.
"The submitted materials on the unscheduled review of tariffs actually lack financial and accounting statements for the first quarter of 2023, confirming the occurrence of losses on the transit of oil of Russian origin through the territory of the Republic of Belarus," says the Russian company.
Belarus has already raised transit tariffs for oil through its territory by 9% since 1 February 2023.
At the end of May, Gomeltransneft Druzhba proposed to increase tariffs by 84% to compensate for losses due to economic sanctions. In early 2023, Germany and Poland abandoned Russian oil in favour of Kazakh oil. Meanwhile, production volumes have dropped significantly.
