The Russian army continues to lose high-ranking servicemen. The Ukrainian Armed Forces eliminated Major General Sergey Goryachev, chief of staff of the 35th Combined Arms Army, in Zaporizhzhia Region on June 12.
He was "demobilized" as a result of a missile strike. This was reported by Russian Telegram channels overnight on Tuesday, June 13, obozrevatel.com reports.
"According to representatives of the Joint Forces Group command, the army lost one of the brightest and most effective military commanders today, combining the highest professionalism with personal courage," Russian "war correspondents" wrote.
A Ukrainian defender with the call sign "Osman" informed about the liquidation of the high-ranking occupant earlier, when Russia was still concealing it.
"Minus a big head of the Russian Armed Forces command staff. Callsign 'Grotto'. The death is being concealed for now, but that's just for now....they've been screwed over pretty badly, not even at the company level," he wrote.
"The work with the headquarters of the Russian occupiers is carried out qualitatively. The general is fine, but there are still a number of rashists," Anatoly Shtefan, an officer of the AFU, also commented on the news.
Sergey Goryachev was listed as a Russian war criminal in the Peacekeeper database. There it was reported that he served as part of the Russian occupation group of troops in Donbass from 2014-2017.
"He was assigned to the 8th Army (military unit 33744, formerly military unit 89462 - 12th Reserve Command, military unit 64722 - Territorial Troops Centre) of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces to participate and support the Russian aggression against Ukraine," the report said.
Additionally, Goryachev was previously the head of the operational group of Russian troops in Transnistria.
