The locomotive belonged to the Belarusian Railways.
The derailed train in the Bryansk region of Russia was under the control of the locomotive brigade of the Belarusian Railways. There were no official reports of casualties. This is reported by the Belarusian Railway Workers Community.
Based on the data of published images from the scene, the Belarusian Railway Workers Community found out that the train was traveling with a diesel locomotive of the 2TE10UK series number, which belonged to the attached park of the Homel locomotive depot of the Belarusian Railways. According to them, as a result of the explosion, the diesel locomotive was significantly damaged, as well as BR freight cars in the head of the train, which derailed as a result of the explosion.
“In accordance with the traction service agreement between the railway administrations of Belarus and Russia, the Homel-Bryansk section is serviced jointly by locomotives and locomotive crews from both the Russian and Belarusian sides,” the community points out. This means that the locomotive crew of this depot is involved in the incident. However, according to preliminary information, no one was hurt.
This is a locomotive of the 2TE10 series, which are assigned to the depots in Homel and Vitsebsk in Belarus, according to an unnamed expert.
“As for the cisterns, they are, apparently, Russian. It’s not quite correct to say that the train belonged to the Belarusian Railways, since part of the cars could belong to one railway company, and some to another. However, the locomotive is undoubtedly of the Belarusian Railways, ” the Telegram channel quotes the expert.
Earlier, the website Charter97.org wrote that a train derailed in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation. According to preliminary information, this happened due to the undermining of the railway by partisans.
As a result of the explosion, the railway connection between Homel and Russian cities was disrupted.
