Mass evacuation began today because of the second one.

Residents of 17 high-rise buildings in the center of Russia's Belgorod are being evacuated because of an “explosive object” found during the aftermath of a bomb fall, Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.

“The sappers found an explosive object. The explosives experts of the Ministry of Defense decided to neutralize it at the training ground. The operational headquarters decided to evacuate 17 apartment buildings within a radius of 200 meters. According to preliminary data, it is more than three thousand people,” he said.

Gladkov promised to transport people to temporary accommodation centers, where they would be provided with water and hot meals.

Residents are ordered to gather at collection points, where buses will arrive. In total, 90 vehicles were allocated for these purposes.

The explosion in Belgorod thundered on the evening of April 20. At the intersection of Vatutin and Gubkin streets, a funnel with a radius of 20 meters was formed. Windows were broken in neighboring houses, the shock wave knocked down power lines, one of the cars was blown onto the roof of the store. Three people were injured, two were hospitalized, and one woman was treated on the spot.

Later, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the cause of the explosion in the center of Belgorod was an unintentional drop of a bomb from a Su-34 military aircraft. The department launched an investigation into the incident.

A number of independent analysts have come to the conclusion that the Russian plane dropped not one, but two bombs on Belgorod.
