Expert Reveals Putin's Tricky Plan On Belarus

Shoigu's visit to Minsk could be the result of a secret agreement in the Kremlin.

Military expert Oleg Zhdanov believes that Russia wants to create a joint military force with Belarus in order to deprive Lukashenka of the right to give orders.

He said this on the air of the Kyiv TV channel.

"Russia demands from Lukashenka to start urgently the formation of a joint grouping of troops of the 'union state'. In accordance with all the agreements, the joint armed forces of the allied state will be subordinate to the General Staff of the Russian Federation. And Lukashenka will have no influence in giving orders to these troops," explained Zhdanov.

On Monday, April 10, Lukashenka held a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in Minsk. The main topics of the talks were "ensuring security" and "guarantees" for Lukashenka from Russia, as well as combat training and agreeing on a joint grouping of troops.

Lukashenka said that during the talks in the Kremlin, Putin fully supported his request for security guarantees for Belarus and that a relevant document would be drafted in the future.
