Military Expert: Lukashenka Only Has Army On Paper

The Belarusian army faced an acute shortage of officers.

Last week, Lukashenka signed a decree “On conscription of reserve officers for military service,” according to which 250 officers are planned to be drafted into the Belarusian army and border service, Ukrainian military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko writes.

This action of Lukashenka immediately triggered alarmists — he is preparing officers for the invasion. No.

At present, there is an acute shortage of staff positions in the Belarusian army - platoon/company commander. For example, only in 11 separate motorized brigades of the Western Operational Command of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, the shortage of junior officers is 55 officers.

First of all, there is an acute shortage in tank and mechanized battalions, MLRS units, howitzer divisions, etc.

That is, Lukashenka is not preparing an army for an invasion, but is solving an urgent problem inherent in his paper army, in which everything is fine on paper!

In a sense, the Russian occupation troops have a similar problem now — a catastrophic lack of professional, high-quality officers. This affects the quality of combat operations at the platoon/company level. And while the Russian occupying troops cannot solve this problem, Lukashenka is trying to plug holes.
