'Prigozhin Is Planning To Destroy Russian General Staff'

The Russian defeat near Bakhmut is likely beneficial to the boss of the mercenaries.

The chief of the Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin is planning to destroy the Russian General Staff.

Russian political scientist and political writer Andrei Piontkovsky shared his view on Olesia Batsman's YouTube channel.

According to the analyst, Prigozhin is winning the information war from the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. “Russian milbloggers are on his side,” he said.

“Yesterday or the day before, he [Prigozhin - Ed.] said that if he is not given weapons and they [the Wagnerites - Ed.] will be defeated [near Bakhmut - Ed.], this will be the fault of the Russian General Staff. He is planning to destroy the General Staff, all the military,” Mr Piontkovsky said.

In addition, the political scientist suggested that the defeat of the Russians near Bakhmut could be beneficial to Prigozhin.

“Suppose, having put all his fighters, and even risking his life, he [Prigozhin - Ed.] will still achieve the capture of Bakhmut. What will happen then? General Konashenkov will still take the floor and say that these are paratroopers and marines who did all this, and Prigozhin will not be forgiven and will be killed sooner or later. So, if the Ukrainians succeed with the counteroffensive and Prigozhin’s predictions and warnings come true, Prigozhin will become a national hero in defeated Russia,” he said.
