The production of potash collapsed by 60% because of the sanctions.
Potash reserves in Belarus will last 100 years, peat reserves - 70 years, groundwater, building stone and trepan reserves - more than 50 years. This was stated by Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Andrei Khudyk in an interview to BelTA.
"Currently, the reserves of potash salt amount to 7.3 billion tons. With the existing annual production of about 53 million tons, the country is provided with these reserves for more than 100 years. Apart from Starobin and Petrykau fields, which are now being developed, there are Kastrychnitskaye, Zhytkavichy and Kapatkevichy fields which serve as a reserve raw material base for potash enterprises," said Khudyk.
The head of the Ministry of Natural Resources said about the reserves of other minerals.
"Reserves of peat will last for 70 years and those of ground water, building stone and trepanel will last more than 50 years. Besides, owing to geologists' work, we increase the reserves every year", he stressed.
As Charter97.org reported, due to the sanctions potash production in Belarus collapsed by 60%. This was reported by the US National Minerals Information Center (USGS).
