The Last ‘Living’ Picture Of The Moskva Cruiser Published

The legendary phrase about the "Russian warship" was born on the same day.

The command ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the Moskva cruiser, launched an assault on Snake Island on the first day of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. At the same time, the Ukrainian soldiers took the last photo of this ship, when it was still on the surface, and did not follow the course we all know.

The head of the State Border Service, Serhiy Deineko, said in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda that on the first day of a full-scale invasion, he received a recording from the island, where the legendary phrase “Russian warship, go … yourself” sounded and a photo of the Moskva cruiser appeared. This is the last photo of the warship before it sank last April.

Serhiy Deineko said that the last photo of the Moskva cruiser was taken by Ukrainian soldiers at 14:55 on February 24, 2022, near Snake Island, which was stormed by the command ship of the Black Sea Fleet. He received the photo at 17:58. He still has the picture on his phone.

On the night of April 14, 2022, Ukrainian troops hit and defeated the Moskva cruiser with two Neptune anti-ship missiles.

It was the Moskva cruiser that was sent along the known course by Ukrainian soldiers. However, at first, the marine infantryman Roman Hribov was considered the author of the phrase. Later it became known that the Russian warship was sent not by him, but by a border guard officer. Attributing the authorship of the phrase to Hribov became a kind of information operation on the security of the real author, who was then still in captivity.

However, after the return of the author of the cult phrase from captivity, his identity still remains a secret. Serhiy Deineko explains this by the fact that there are still certain security issues. That is why the identity of the author is classified.

“And I have an agreement with him that until they decide, I will not do anything that would do any harm to his safety,” Deineko emphasized.

The head of the Border Service also noted that 80 people, both military and civilian, were taken prisoner after the assault on Snake Island. 28 border guards were among them, 12 of them were released, 16 more, unfortunately, are still there.
